Cecil's second birthday...

My nephew, Cecil, celebrated his second birthday at McDonald's in August. I think his favorite present was probably his new bicycle, although I have a feeling the bag of ice pops was a close second. He's somewhat of an ice pop addict.

 

Great Danes...

I'm always on the lookout for things to shoot that I haven't done before. Working in journalism, I often find myself taking photographs of things that I wouldn't otherwise do. Even so, a dog show was a new one for me. In August, my aunt and uncle hosted a Great Dane show at their campground, also a first for them. I stopped by and snapped a few photos to see what it was all about.

A trip to the fair...

No sooner than I got back from the beach, it was time to head to the fair. I actually ended up going twice because I had free tickets. I only snapped a few quick photos, but you can't have summer without the fair.

 

A trip to the beach...

In July, Ron and I took our annual week long beach trip with his family. Really, when
I say family, I mean extended family so think approximately 30 people in one beach house. It's always a great time, if not somewhat overwhelming for someone like myself who grew up in a four person household. It helps that I absolutely love the beach. The ocean, the clouds, the sand. It's amazing to see all of the people on the beach, each having their own experience and their own reason for being there. And while the beach is great in the middle of a hot summer day, I guess I favor the quieter times--the sunsets and the nights when most people have already gone inside after a long day in the sun.
